A Safe Space for every Soul
The Counselling and Career Services Centre (CCSC) serves as the heart of mental health advocacy at IIUM. Our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment where every member of our community – student or staff – can openly share concerns, express emotions, and develop healthy coping strategies.
Dedicated Support for Students
We empower students through diverse, interactive, and accessible platforms:
1. Peer Empowerment: The Gombak Peers and the I-Peers network provide student-led support, fostering a strong spirit of participation and shared commitment to well-being.
2. Creative Therapy: Through the “Friday Flourish” and “i-HEAL” workshops, students engage in expressive arts such as texture painting, punch needle embroidery, and color psychology to relieve stress and improve focus.
3. Resilience & Growth: The “I Grow” series and “i-Healscape Festival” practical training in time management, psychological resilience, and Islamic-grounded coping skills.
Workplace Well-being for Staff
We recognise that a healthy mind is essential for professional excellence. Our dedicated staff programs include:
1. Cerita Kerja Kita: A specialised series (e.g., “Minda Sejahtera, Prestasi Terjaga” and “Oh My Boss!”) designed to raise awareness about workplace well-being.
2. Inclusive Culture: These sessions provide expert guidance to equip staff with skills that enhance both their mental health and job performance within a supportive workplace culture.
Digital Accessibility and Outreach
To ensure mental health literacy is accessible to all, we utilise modern digital platforms:
1. Tiktok & FB Live Series: through programs like “Mindful Minutes” and “Chit Chat with Counsellors”, we provide short, engaging sessions on mindfulness, anxiety management, and reaching out for help.
2. Anonymous Support Groups: For those needing a private space, the “From One Anon to Another” recovery group offers a confidential platform for individuals to support each other through addiction recovery journeys.
Campus-Wide Advocacy
Every year, the IIUM Mental Health Awareness Month (IMHAM) and the UIA Student Leaders’ Summit bring together stakeholders to deliberate on mental health policies, ensuring a resilient and supportive campus environment for everyone.
